Waiting for captionsExport creates a new download. Originals are never overwritten. Warnings stay in the report; they are not silently repaired.
What this does
- Accepts UTF-8 plain-text SRT and basic WebVTT.
- Checks every cue before allowing that file to export.
- Preserves Unicode text, line breaks and supported VTT cue settings.
- Stops negative offsets instead of silently clamping them.
- Renumbers SRT and handles timestamp carry in whole milliseconds.
Know the limits
- No transcription, translation, video preview or subtitle burn-in.
- No markup, STYLE/REGION blocks or extended VTT headers. Remove these in a specialist editor first.
- VTT NOTE comments are shown as notices and skipped on export.
- Blank lines separate cues; blank lines inside cue text are unsupported.
- Characters mean Unicode code points, not visual width or full grapheme clusters.
- Advisory rules are your choice, not a broadcaster/platform compliance certificate.
